Harambee Stars went back to the top of group B of the CECAFA Senior challenge cup after a 1-1 draw with Burundi at the Hawassa International Stadium in Hawassa town, Ethiopia.
Burundi discovered the weak link to be the Kenya right back and again Abich was left on the floor by Christophe Nduwarugira, but his brilliant cross was met by a feeble shot by Didier Kavumbagu.
Kenya’s equalizer was a beauty. The lively Eric Johanna Omondi fed Clifton Miheso on the left wing. Miheho’s deep cross was headed back by Jacob Keli into the path of Michael Olunga. Olunga then sold a dummy to Issa Hakizimana before firing home on his weaker right foot three minutes to the break.
“I think we played well. The first half was 50 50 because of the scorching sun, but we dominated the second half and should have scored more goals,” said Harambee Stars coach Bobby Williamson.
