Kamworor ready for men 10000m Farah rematch

Beijing World Championships silver medallist, Geoffrey Kamworor, says he is ready for a re-match with British double Olympics champion, Mo Farah, who denied him the men 10000m gold medal last year.

Speaking to Chamgei FM in Eldoret, the two-time World Half and World Cross titleholder added he was preparing to deal with Farah’s superior finishing to land the Olympics gold.

“I have learnt a lot from Mo Farah he is good at finish. He’s someone who can sprint at the end leaving everyone wondering how. So I have worked on that and I believe I will deliver.” Kamworor said.

Kamworor added they are planning to go for the 1-2-3 sweep in a race Kenya last won gold at the 1968 Games in Mexico.

Although they have been portrayed as bitter rivals with Bedan Karoki, Kamworor added when it comes to putting on the Kenyan strip, they are the best of teammates.

“We normally agree to do things together and when we plan it happens. We have helped one another in many ways and I don’t fear because we listen to one another despite other things. We shall work hard to ensure that we bring the gold, silver and bronze to Kenya at the Olympic Games,” the 2011 IAAF World Cross junior men titleholder asserted.

Kamworor led Karoki to the line at the 2015 World Cross and this year’s World Half as the sealed the Kenyan 1-2 although the latter ended up just outside the medals at the Beijing Worlds in fourth.

On doping the athlete who was handed wildcard selection after failing to finish the men 10000m Trial in Eldoret persisted that they will not be affected by the decision of WADA to test them more than twice before participating in Rio Olympics.

“We are not afraid to be tested , after all we have been undergoing tests many times and it has shown that we are clean, that  won’t affect us. Let them do their part when we reach Brazil because we are not on any drugs.”
