Nakuru County sets aside Sh10m for talent centres

The County Government of Nakuru has set aside Sh10 million for the construction of two sports talent centres in the county.

According to County Director of Sports David Mwangi, the two centres will be set up in Kuresoi and Gilgil Sub-Counties with each getting Sh5 million.

“We expect to start with two centres each being funded at a cost of Sh5 million but we will increase the budget in the next financial year to expand to other counties,” he said.

Mwangi said the centres would assume the mode of a school, fully equipped with dormitories and gym with a professional coach hired by the county government to assist nurture talent among the youth.

The director said more funds would be set aside in the next financial year to ensure operations at the centres run smoothly and better.

Other than nurturing talent, the centres are also expected to keep the youth occupied as a way of keeping them out of crime.
