NSL whipping boys Shabana shopping for a new coach

National Super League (NSL) tail-enders Shabana FC are hunting for a new coach with the brief of lifting them off the bottom of the second-tier after a wretched run of four straight defeats since their belated start to the season.

The former top flight giants are yet to score in their marathon catch-up run with the rest of the competition after they were reinstated to the NSL by the Sports Tribunal.

Their poor results have angered their bedrock support in the Gusii region and Club Secretary; Evans Kibagendi confirmed a change of guard at the technical bench is the place to launch efforts of salvaging their season.

“We know the fans are not happy with the performance but again they need to know that what has really affected our performance is that the team was delayed to start its games due to the court case, but we strongly believe we shall catch up.

“The club Chairman, Jared Nivaton is in talks with various candidates and we strongly believe that in the next week we shall be unveiling a coach,” the official told Citizen Digital.

The club is planning massive recruitment of new players with emphasis on strikers to strengthen the team after the current forwards failed to hit the target thus far.

The club Organizing Secretary; Stephen Kiama cautioned against peddling malicious information about the team.

“We are aware of people masquerading as well wishers and helping the team by donating handouts, but that is false information and whoever is willing to help the team let him or her come out clear and let the public know.

“Some are circulating unauthentic information that they can’t substantiate, some people are even saying that team is stranded in Machakos while the players are in Kisii,” the official charged.

The club will be travelling to Awendo over the weekend to face Wazito FC after their midweek clash with high flying Nzoia United was postponed.
