Olunga scores to keep Kenya top of table in CECAFA

Michael Olunga saved Kenya blushes at the CECAFA 2015 in Ethiopia after scoring in the dying minutes of the first half to give Harambee Stars a point against Burundi.

Burundi drew the first blood in the match with Amissi Tambwe tapping n Didier Kavumbagu’s cross in the 11th minute to give them the lead.

As the match progressed, Harambee Stars seems to settle into the game, maintaining possession and stringing passes in a show of brilliance and focus.

The Kenyan side made several attempt at goal with Clifton Miheso, Jacob Keli and Olunga making fronts in search of an equaliser.

The pressure paid off in the 41 minute when Keli slightly directed Miheso’s cross into Olunga’s path with the Gor Mahia striker making a perfect finish to earn Kenya the equaliser.

The second half was a rather balanced affair with both teams making runs and attempts at each other’s territories.

Despite all the effort, the match ended in a draw giving both teams a point.

The results have left Harambee Stars top of the table with four points, same as Burundi who have an inferior goal difference.

Uganda Cranes are third with three points, while Zanzibar who lost 4-0 to Uganda, placed last.
