PSG coach remains coy on Di Maria pursuit

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) head coach Laurent Blanc has refused to be drawn to rumours linking Manchester United’s Angel Di Maria with the club.

The 27-year-old Argentinian midfielder has not joined up with the Red Devils for their pre-season tour, but Blanc is adamant there is nothing to confirm on the French club’s side.

PSG lost to Premier League champions Chelsea on penalties in the International Champions Cup.

But the 49-year-old is pleased to experiment with his side ahead of the new season and revealed that Thiago Motta’s fitness is improving.

“There is no official news at this time (on Di Maria). There is a lot of talk out there. PSG wants an offensive player, whether it is him or someone else. I can’t comment officially.”

Speaking on Sunday, Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal said that Di Maria is not with the team in the US because he failed to catch a flight on time.

The Argentine, who has been strongly linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain in recent days, was due to meet up with the United squad following Saturday’s 3-1 win over Barcelona at the International Champions Cup.

There have been speculations that the Argentine winger Angel Di Maria could leave the club, a year after moving to Old Trafford for a British record transfer fee.

British media have reported that Di Maria, who joined United for 59.7 million pounds, last year, is a target for French club Paris Saint-Germain and that his wife is unhappy living in the northwest of England.
