Time to forget last seasons heroics, Ranieri says

Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri has said it’s time to forget about last season’s heroics and concentrate on the new Premier League season as they look to build on their success.

The Foxes stunned the football world and were crowned English champions last season – a feat which has lead to many of their players attracting interest from other clubs, with French midfielder N’Golo Kante already having left for Chelsea.

“Now I’ve forgotten what happened. My focus is on the next season. I’ve forgot everything. I want to start the new season. I want to watch my players so close as well.”

But the Italian insists he plans to keep all his players for the remainder of the transfer window, and thanked Steve Walsh who left the club as director of football to join Everton.

“No, the player is very, very happy. He works in the training session and also the last match very well. And I’m so happy with him and all my players.

“My plan is we keep all the players. N’Golo Kante wanted to go and good luck to him. Others want to stay,” he added.

Captain Wes Morgan has also urged the team not rest on their laurels and look to the season ahead, as they are set to take on Scottish giants Celtic in the Champions Cup on Saturday.

“Looking back, you always think about it. But you have to out that to one side now and there’s another season ahead and you have to get back to work. And it’s starting right now and you can’t dwell on the past. Hopefully they’ll be times when you can look back and enjoy that time but we’ve got to look forward and focus on this season now.

“Now with teams all around the world there’s that gap which is starting close between some of the better teams and the so called lower teams. We’re not going to take them [Celtic] lightly and we know we’re definitely going to be in for a tough game,” the Jamaican stressed.
