Title-chasing Mathare Women wary of bogey team Uweza
The National Super
League women’s league side Mathare Women United will gun for maximum points
when the Nairobi-based outfit takes on Uweza Women this Saturday at MYSA
Komarok stadium.
Speaking to Citizen
Digital, Mathare head coach Anne Aluoch said they are in good shape ahead of
the tie, terming it as a good taste for their progress so far this season.
"We have played
Uweza in four occasions in which we have only lost once to them with the
remaining meetings ending in stalemates.
“The mood in the camp
is great with only one injury case, but I believe this is a must win match for
us," she said.
Aluoch further stated
that Mathare will approach the remaining matches with focus as they aim to clinch
the title and secure promotion to the Kenya Women’s Premier League next season.
"We are
countering each match at a time because looking at the table, the top three
teams stand equal chance of securing promotion to the premier league, so we are
pushing and approaching each fixture with the seriousness that it
deserves," she added.
Mathare are ranked
third on the long with 24 points after 11 matches while Uweza are placed fourth
on 21 points after 13 matches.
