Beer producer appoints new boss

East African Breweries Limited (EABL) has appointed Jane Karuku as the new Managing Director for Kenya Breweries Limited.

While making the announcement, EABL Group Managing Director Charles Ireland said that Ms. Karuku brings a wealth of experience as an established pan-African business leader both in the corporate and development sectors.

The Group MD further expressed confidence that her strategic insights and cross-functional skills will be instrumental in injecting great value in the future growth of KBL business.

Ms Karuku is an accomplished business leader with general management experience of over 20 years in FMCG organizations and most recently in a non-governmental organization.

Her experience spans strategy development, sales and marketing, operational management, change and transformation management.

She was previously the Managing Director Cadbury Schweppes East Africa, Deputy CEO & Secretary General Telkom Kenya and most recently as President, Alliance for Green Revolution in Africa.

In her earlier career, Ms Karuku held cross functional roles in marketing, production and supply chain management. She is a Trustee at United States International University, Kenya, was previously a Board member Barclays Bank of Kenya and has until now, been a Non-Executive Director at EABL.

Ms. Karuku holds an MBA, Marketing from the National University, California USA and BSc Food Science & Technology from Nairobi University.

The new Managing Director’s appointment takes effect from July 6th, 2015 will remain in its Board as an Executive Director.

She takes over from Mr Joe Muganda who joins Nation Media Group as the Chief Executive Officer.
