Dubai air show 2017 kicks off

Over 1200 exhibitors are participating in this year’s Dubai Air show being hosted at the DWC Dubai Air show site located at the Al Maktoum International Airport in Dubai UAE.

The vent that brings together aerospace stakeholders including airplane manufacturers, airlines, engine makers, technology firms aviation experts and enthusiasts was officially opened by his Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum the vice president and prime minister of the UAE and leader of Dubai.

One of the most outstanding highlights of the Dubai Air show has always been the static display of the “jumbos of the air”.

This year at least 160 private, commercial as well as military airplanes are being showcased, bringing to life aeronautical ingenuity from a global perspective.

From whichever corner of the 645,000 square metre show site, exhibitors and visitors alike are able to see, feel and even test aviation at its best, more better yet witness the milestones made over the years in the aerospace industry.

 

New in this year’s show is the Sukhoi Superjet 100 and the Japanese Airforce Kawasaki C2. This alongside the first time exhibitor Calidu, displaying not one but two aircrafts: the b-250 Bader and the TX-C

Military might is also on display both on the ground and in the skies (static and air displays are common features of the show).

Featuring this year is the SU35 Dassault Rafale, the Taqnia/Antonov AN132, THE IOMAX S2R-T660 Archangel and a PAC JF-17 Thunder.

Helicopters are well represented with Turkish aerospace industry’s T129 Atak Helicopter, the Motor Sich Mi2 and Mi8 MSB-T.

“The airplanes we are seeing at the show represent all sectors of the aerospace industry, we are seeing lots of returning favorites like the Emirates A380 and several jets in the Gulfstream family, plus some new exciting inclusions such as the Calidus Barder 250,” Said Michele Van Akelijen, Managing Director of the show organizers Tarsus F&E LLC Middle East.

Business aviation a market which is gaining prominence and exponentially growing in the Middle East is always heavily represented at the Dubai Air show.

This year is no different but a lot more is expected with over 50 business aircrafts being on the static park.

They include the Gulfstream G650ER and Bombardier Global 6000, while Emirates Airline is displaying its all business class ACJ319.

Also being displayed is the Airbus A350 (it also kept spectators glued to the skies as it flamboyantly made rounds around the site during the air display) and the Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner, while both Emirates and Etihad are also exhibiting their flagship A380s while Flydubai is showcasing its Boeing 737 MAX 8. Other aircrafts on static display include Honeywell Boeing 757-200 and Diamond DA50 Super Star.

At Least 72,000 people are expected to visit this year’s Dubai Air show which continues until Thursday the 16th November 2017.

When curtains are close the show is expected to have facilitated the striking of billions of dollars worth of deals.
