Equity Slim Sim Setback

Equity bank’s bid to venture into the mobile money services front could be delayed further. This is following a call by the parliamentary committee on energy and communications for the suspension of the bank’s plan to introduce thin sim cards as part of its plan to set up its mobile financial services platform. And as Denis Otieno explains, the house committee has lambasted the communications authority of Kenya for failing to vet the technology that has so far earned stiff opposition from the country's largest mobile money service provider, safaricom.
