Former Tesco exec exits Nakumatt
Nakumatt Holdings chief marketing officer Andrew Dixon has left the struggling retailer barely ten months after his appointment.
The former executive of UK retailer Tesco had been appointed to the position in a bid to turnaround Nakumatt’s strategic outlook and consumer engagement at a time the retailer was having cash flow challenges.
Mr Dixon confirmed his departure via his official twitter feed as well as an SMS to Citizen Digital.
“Hi Patrick, this is to advice you that I no longer work for Nakumatt. Regards,” he said in his text message adding he was yet to make his next move.
This is the second high profile management exit from Nakumatt following the exit of long serving regional and strategy director Thiagarajan Ramamurthy who left in April to become the chief executive officer of Bidco Africa.
Mr Dixon’s departure comes at a time Nakumatt is involved in takeover talks with Tuskys Supermarkets as well debt restructuring negotiations with lenders.
Nakumatt has been plagued by acute stock shortage as suppliers severed ties over unpaid deliveries forcing the retailer to close as many as four of its stores in Kenya.
