Four COVID-19 infected prisoners escape from hospital in Lodwar

Police have launched a hunt for four prisoners who on Wednesday escaped from a hospital in Lodwar, Turkana County where they had been isolated after contracting COVID-19.

Turkana County Health CEC Jane Ajele said the four escapees were among 28 inmates who were in isolation after they got infected with the coronavirus.

Ms. Ajele said the four had not yet recovered from the disease.

The four inmates are believed to have escaped by cutting through a window of the hospital while security guards were asleep.

The inmates who escaped are said to have been serving time for notorious crime.
