Glovo adds 75 new jobs to its Nairobi hub

Spanish-based delivery firm Glovo has added 75 new support services jobs to its Nairobi hub as the company targets to consolidate on its local foothold.

The new roles covering operations and customer support were being externally outsourced limiting the company’s efficiencies.

According to Glovo’s General Manager for Kenya William Benthall, the creation of the new roles aligns to the firm’s ambition of impacting the local economy.

“Our ambition at Glovo has been to help grow local economy and we have been doing this in a number of ways,” he said.

“We are for instance supporting local vibandas (local food kiosks) and not just the big players. For me, there is huge opportunity for us to continue contributing to Nairobi’s economic development.”

Glovo has further expanded its list of deliverable goods to customers to include LPG cylinders and pharmaceuticals.

The firm, which launched in January 2019, has enlisted in more than 1000 riders to make deliveries to its clientele within its geographical area of operation which include Mombasa and the towns of Nakuru and Kitengela.

Glovo is effectively set for further expansion across the country having recently raised Ksh.17 billion from a new round of funding with an eye on the continental market and an expanded delivery portfolio.

Glovo has already on boarded 150 partners in its quest to top the nascent deliveries industry in the region.
