Good day for business as Luo class translates to huge profits

Businesses were the biggest beneficiaries in the just concluded Luo Festival which went down on Saturday night at the Carnivore Grounds in Nairobi, as businessmen maximised on the famed flamboyance and class of the Luo community.

There were several business stands put up at the event; most of which targeted the high-end clientele.

From leather products shop, clothing lines, electronic stands, to food and beverages joints.

One Loraine Wangari from Honor My Curves (HMC) female fashion house in Nairobi said she harvested big from the festival, citing thirst for elegance and love for oneself by the female customers who were present at the event as the main catalyst for her business’ success on Saturday.

“Most of our clients at the Luo Festival were from the Luo community and you know how they are categorical about fashion, class and preference.”

“We brought them products that appealed to their different needs. Most Luo women being ‘well endowed’, our plus-size clothes fitted them nicely. We hoped to make a bumper harvest, which we did,” said Wangari.

Another businessman, Sammy of Afro-Street fashion; a clothing line which deals with custom-made African Kitenge wear, said he too made good fortunes from the event.

“The flamboyant lifestyle of the Luo community people, made it easy for us to sell big time.”

“Just like the 2014 edition where we sold more than half of our stock at the event, a repeat of the same happened at the 2015 fest,” said Sammy.

WazaWazi, an international full leather products shop, also recorded good profit at the event.
