Govt. Affirms Enough Food Stocks In The Country
The country is not at risk of incurring a major food shortage despite reduced crop yields in the Mount Kenya region and other parts of the country. According to agriculture cabinet Secretary Felix Koskei the country has adequate food reserves at the moment and will only incur a two month shortage that can easily be bridged through food imports. Koskei says the government has released an additional 1 billion shillings to enable the national cereals and produce board buy more grain from farmers to ensure food security.
