Huawei Kenya extends graduate jobs program

Technology firm Huawei Kenya has expanded its graduate jobs program opening about 30 job and internship opportunities this year.

The expanded program under which Huawei collaborates with its business partners followed a virtual jobs fair that saw the participation of over 150 ICT graduates.

Huawei partners include MFI Technologies, China Telecom and Eastra Solutions Limited.

The firm works to upskill graduates through its ICT Academy under which it offers training and certifications on new technologies including 5G networks, artificial intelligence, (AI), internet of things (IOT) and cloud.

“With the evolving technology, we need to make sure as employers, we keep transferring skills to lecturers and to students so they are prepared for these jobs,” said Huawei Chief Executive Officer Will Meng.

Huawei has also collaborated with the government to support the country’s Digital Economy Blueprint.

“With programs such as the Huawei ICT Academy and Huawei Management Trainee Program, the ICT local talent and broader ecosystem will be boosted,” said ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru.

“Kenya’s rich human resource is an asset that sets it ahead regionally and moves us closer to becoming a knowledge based economy,” he added.
