The giant mobile phones manufacturer, who were also celebrating 10 years of operations in Africa, announced plans to expand their business to include other markets with focus in the Middle East.

Having taken 45 companies over 200 top engineers and 428 days to come up with the duo gadgets, Tecno’s Regional Director, Livingstone Irungu, told Citizen Digital that the new Phantom 6 and 6+ would retail at 25,000 shillings and 35,000 shillings respectively.

Phantom 6 currently stands as the slimmest smartphone with a dual rear camera.

Speaking during the launch, Tecno’s Vice President, Arif Chowdhury, dismissed claims that Tecno was moving out of Africa saying that Africa, specifically East Africa, was Tecno’s home with plans to grow with the continent.

Also present was Livingstone Migwi, the regional director for Tecno Africa who indicated that Tecno’s uptake has been on an upward trend in Africa with Kenya being recorded as one with the highest uptake.
