Jambojet launches inaugural flight to Rwanda

Kenyan low cost airline Jambojet on Wednesday launched its inaugural flight to Kigali, Rwanda.

The carrier will fly from Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to the Kigali International Airport once a day on the newly acquired De Havilland Dash 8 – 400 aircraft.

”Today we mark a major milestone in our regional expansion strategy,” said Jambojet Chief Executive Allan Kilavuka in a statement, adding that their strategy is to reach the entire African continent ”while offering a unique product for these markets.”

Their low cost model, Kivaluka said will provide an affordable, convenient and safe option of travel.

Kigali will be the second international destination that the airline will be landing at after they made their entry into Entebbe, Uganda.

The main business for the airline launched in 2014 is in the local destinations, operating from its home at JKIA to Mombasa, Eldoret, Kisumu, Malindi and Ukunda.

Kilavuka in his statement said that Jambojet is taking on what it sees as a big opportunity in the African market.

To this end they are eyeing countries in the Eastern Africa region including South Sudan, Mogadishu, the Union of Comoros, Malawi and The Democratic Republic Of Congo(DRC).
