KAA boss Jonny Anderson to exit early for personal reasons

Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) CEO Jonny Anderson will be leaving on September 30, 2019 two months before his 3-year term expires citing personal reasons.

In a circular seen by Citizen Digital, Anderson, whose term expires on November 21, 2019 however requested the board to allow him to leave earlier, a request the board has since granted.

Further, the KAA boss has also advised that he does not wish to renew his contract.

“Most notably, Jonny will be remembered for leading the team in achieving the of the Last Point of Departures status for JKIA, paving the way for direct flights between the USA and Kenya,” reads the statement.

During his three year tenure, JKIA was named as the best improved airport in Africa, best airport in Africa and number 38 in the world as well as the Africa airport of the year in air cargo.

KAA chairman Isaac Awuondo said that his position will be filled through a competitive process that will commence in the next few weeks.

“In the meantime, the Board will appoint an acting CEO and exercise closer oversight to ensure a smooth transition,” said Awuondo.

Anderson was appointed KAA CEO on November 20, 2019.

He jumped into the public limelight during the much publicised probe to the botched attempt by Kenya Airways to co-run the airport alongside KAA.

Before joining KAA, Anderson was the Director of National Aiprorts at Avinor as in Norway.
