KAA releases airport performance report

More passenger movement was recorded at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) last month compared to the same period last year.

According to data released by the Kenya Airports Authority, Mombasa, Dubai and Entebbe were the top three destinations for passengers out of JKIA in the period too.

Some 687,669 passengers were recorded in the month compared to 635,522 recorded in September last year.

Cargo received at JKIA increased by 31 per cent to 33.9 million kilograms compared to 25.8 million in September 2017 while 9,404 aircrafts landed in the month compared to 9,115 same time last year

At the Moi International Airport in Mombasa, passenger movement increased by 16 per cent to 120,949. While Cargo dropped by 18 per cent in the period, more aircrafts landed registering 2,378 flights in the month.

Eldoret International Airport saw passenger movements up 10 per cent even as cargo dropped by 21 per cent in the period. Some 755 flights were however recorded at the airport representing a 14.2 per cent increase

At the Kisumu International Airport, passenger movements registered a 37.7 per cent growth to 39653 while some 996 aircraft landed at the lake side city representing a 64.1 per cent increase from last year September when only 607 flights were recorded. No cargo was however registered at the airport in the period.
