Kenya Airways tenders, procurement process under probe – DCI
Kenya Airways is under investigations over concerns involving tenders and procurement.
KQ boss Sebastian Mikosz has been ordered to surrender certified copies of the airline’s financial documents to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.
“To facilitate the investigations, kindly but urgently supply us with certified copies of the following documents; Kenya Airways Procurement guidelines since the Year 2015,” a letter from the DCI reads.
According to the letter dated September 2, 2019, investigations will focus on procurement of services for the maintenance, repair and overhaul of aircraft engines.
Other documents under scrutiny will be procurement and budget plans, tender advertisement/request for proposal, list of prequalified suppliers and tender documents for potential bidders.
Detectives are probing the financial period between 2017/8 and 2018/9.
The DCI has also requested information about members of the Procurement and Tender Committee for the same period.
During the announcement of the 2019 half year results, Kenya Airways reported that operating costs rose to Ksh. 61.45billion.
Last year, operating costs were reported as Ksh. 53.22billion.
