Kenya lands major US tourism expo

The Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) is set to host over 5,000 tour operators from the United States of America as part of efforts to open up the country to new markets.

This comes after Kenya won the bid to host the America Society of Travel Agents in 2017.

KTB acting Managing Director Jacinta Nzioka Mbithi said the tourism marketer will continue to leverage on conference tourism to serve as a launch pad to wooing American visitors.

“the choice of Kenya is really an endorsement to this destination. It positions Kenya and reassurance the world that we are able to hold international conferences,” Ms Mbithi said.

KTB is set to invest Sh150 million in marketing tourism activities in the U.S.

Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala said diversification of source market will ensure the tourism sector has a stable trickle of leisure and corporate visitors

“I believe the investment the Kenya Tourism Board is putting in that market will increase the numbers coming from the U.S,” Mr Balala said.
