Kiambu Residents Conned in Apparent Pyramid Scheme

Hundreds of traders in Kiambu County could lose their money running into millions of shillings following the indefinite closure of a micro finance institution operating in the area.

Some of the traders say they have deposited huge amounts of money in various branches of Okoa Jamii Innovative Entrepreneurship and Empowerment Programme and now want the government to take measures to safeguard their money.

The financial institution was indefinitely closed down Monday without any notice.

Initial investigations show that there was a go-slow by workers of the institution who claimed they had not been paid for the last two months.
