Kiambu Unveils A Multimillion Biomas Factory

Kiambu County has unveiled a multimillion shilling biomass factory that is targeting to produce 3.7 million super fuel efficient wood and charcoal cook stoves.

The factory which is located in Ruiru town has been set up by the county government in partnership with Global Alliance General Electric Africa and the US state government.

Kiambu County Governor William Kabogo said the facility built at a cost of Ksh 500 million is expected to create more than 300 jobs.

Kabogo also added that the use of firewood has contributed a lot towards forest destruction in various parts of the county.

While unveiling the factory, US Ambassador to Kenya Robert Godec said the new jikos will save women from the hustle of looking for firewood.
