Martin Oduor-Otieno is new EABL Board chairman

East Africa Breweries Limited (EABL) has announced the appointment of Martin Oduor-Otieno as the new Board chairman.

A statement in the local dailies said he will take up the position starting January 1, 2020.

“Mr. Oduor-Otieno is an accomplished business leader, having worked more recently with Deloitte East Africa as Partner, and with KCB group as Chief Executive Officer among other senior private sector appointments. He also served as PS, Treasury in the Government of Kenya,” EABL said.

He is set to take over from Mr. Charles Muchene who retires from the Board on December 31 this year.

Mr. Oduor-Otieno is an alumnus of the prestigious Harvard Business School and also has an Executive MBA from ESAMI/Maastrich as well as an undergraduate Commerce degree from the University of Nairobi.

Last year, he was among top Kenyan and American business leaders selected to facilitate a learning program between Harvard, United States International University (Africa) and the Aga Khan University School of Media and Communications (GSMC).

In 2016, he was appointed as an independent Non-Executive Director for EABL.

Local media reported that last year, the ex-KCB boss earned a total of Ksh. 26million from sitting on several Boards: South Africa’s Standard Bank, Kenya Airways, British American Tobacco (Kenya) and EABL.

According to the Business Daily, the remuneration was more than what several public companies paid their CEOs making him ‘one of the highest-paid boardroom operators’.
