Mobius Motors plans launch of second model

Automotive firm Mobius Motors has announced plans to roll out its second vehicle, aptly dubbed Mobius II.

The new Mobius II is currently in the engineering and test phase with production launch in Kenya scheduled for 2017.

Mobius first came to the market in 2014 with a car designed for rough terrain, which retailed at Sh950,000.

The firm plans to use new technology with the new car offering extra features that were missing from the first car.

Mobius Motors Chief Executive Officer Joel Jackson said currently in the engineering and test phase with production launch expected by mid next year.

“We’re excited about the launch of our new Mobius II model next year, which will see significant ramp up in production volume. Mobius is founded on the idea of transforming Africa’s transportation system and we can’t wait to put many more Mobius cars in the hands of Kenyan customers with this next-generation model,” Mr Jackson said.

New features expected in the new car include power steering, improved exterior and interior features as well as high ground clearance.

The firm is yet to announce how much the new car will retail at but prospective buyers have been urged to make pre orders.

“Mobius continues to break new ground in this market, and we are very excited for the upcoming launch,” Mobius Motors Chief Operating Officer Sunru Yong said.

Mobius is expected to increase production with the launch of the new model.
