Narok to benefit from Solar project

Residents of Talek town in Narok County are set to benefit from a 50 kilowatts solar power project.

The project seeks to reduce the reliance on firewood and fuel-based power.

The solar power facility is the culmination of a partnership between the Narok county government and Gaslischaft Fur International, a German technology company.

“Solar energy was one of the sectors which we had identified and we see the future of solar growing because of so many investors,” said Narok Governor Samuel Tunai.

The fifty-kilowatt mini-grid project will benefit residents of Talek town in Narok County.

The solar project is now expected to drastically reduce dependence on firewood for fuel in Narok county.

“As the world becomes more aware of the challenges presented by climate change. New strategies are being developed to enable sustainable development. We are happy to launch this project but clean energy is better.”

The launch of the project comes at a time when the government is investing more resources in the generation of clean renewable power.
