NIB okays Everest Park apartments

The National Building Inspectorate (NBI) has cleared two blocks that it had previously raised concern on at Everest Park Estate in Athi River.

NBI boss Moses Nyakiongora, in a letter to the project architects, Gem Archplans, said the rehabilitation and refurbishment of blocks 2B and 2F in the estate were satisfactorily addressed following an inspection carried out on September 23, 2019.

NIB had in January 2018 raised a safety concern in an audit of the two blocks within Phase One of the project following reports that the blocks had developed cracks.

The inspectorate then moved in to carry out the structural audit to ascertain if the houses were habitable.

The housing unit is funded by Shelter Afrique and features 240 units of between one and three bedrooms in Mavoko, Machakos County.

The project was built at a cost of Ksh.755 million.
