NIC launches Social Banking platform

The NIC bank has partnered with software company Craft Silicon to launch a social banking platform called NIC Konnect.

The listed lender is looking to leverage on the young unbanked youth who form the majority of the over 26 million mobile internet users in the country, and spend half their time on social media.

NIC group’s Managing Director John Gachora says the product will provide multiple accesses to its banking products.

Customers will be issued with a pin number that will enable them access their bank statement, balance inquiry, and buy airtime and send and receive money.

The bank is also looking to grow its share in mobile banking which according to a recent Jumia survey does not arouse much interest by the young tech savvy Kenyans.
