Nzoia clears farmers’ debts

Nzoia Sugar Company has announced that it has surpassed its full year cane crushing target to hit 1 million tonnes of against a target of 700,000 tonnes.

While making the announcement, acting Managing Director Godfrey Wanyonyi said the company is rolling out a cane harvesting program that will cover close to 2,900 hectares of land under cane above the age of 24 months.

Wanyonyi also said that the cane harvesting exercise will begin next Thursday adding that the company has cleared its outstanding arrears to cane farmers.

The MD further disclosed the company is scheduled to close its factory for annual maintenance by end of August this year.

Nzoia Sugar Company currently has a capacity to crush 3,000 tonnes of cane per day.
