Obama, Uhuru host Global Entrepreneurship summit

President Uhuru Kenyatta and President Barack Obama on Saturday hosted the 2015 Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) at the United Nations office in Gigiri.

The summit brought together entrepreneurs at all stages of business development and the world’s foremost business leaders are converging at the United Nations office.

President Obama landed in the country on Friday night at 8:02 PM and was received by President Kenyatta and other government officials.

President Uhuru Kenyatta had earlier in the week asked Kenyan entrepreneurs to showcase their best during US President Barack Obama’s visit.

Speaking when he opened the Pre-Global Enterprise Summit (GES) 2015 Expo at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), President Kenyatta said the world’s focus will be on Kenya and it is only right for Kenyans to take advantage of the global focus.

The head of state said the summit will provide good exposure for Kenyan entrepreneurs and innovators as it will give them a chance to interact with some of the world’s most successful entrepreneurs.

Kenya was chosen to host the Sixth Global Entrepreneurship Summit which will be co-hosted by US President Barack Obama and his Kenyan counterpart Uhuru Kenyatta on Saturday.

Kenya is now the first sub-saharan African country to host the meeting.

The GES will be a marketplace of ideas for selected entrepreneurs who will have a chance to engage with the best brains in global business, private equity investment and business start-ups.
