Pesapal Kenya authorized by Central Bank to provide payment services

The Central Bank of Kenya has granted Pesapal authorization to act as a Payment Service Provider (PSP) to carry out Payment Gateway Services in compliance with the National Payment System (NPS) Act, 2011, NPS Regulations 2014.

The fintech company says the regulatory approval will enable it to offer digital e- commerce services seamlessly as it accelerates innovation in digital payments.

“We are delighted to have this authorization by the CBK. We will continue to enable payments for merchants and consumers,” says Mark Mwongela, Pesapal’s Chief Executive.

The company was founded in 2009 with the purpose to provide a simple, safe and secure way for individuals and businesses to make and accept payments in Kenya.

Pesapal’s objective is to democratize payments by providing affordable, innovative, and customized payment solutions to businesses and consumers alike.

The company has operations across Africa including Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Malawi, and Zimbabwe and it seeks to become Africa’s safest and most convenient way to pay and get paid as well as a leading Payment Service Provider that offers digital financial services for individuals and businesses.
