Qatar Airways marks 15 years of Nairobi-Doha operations

Gulf carrier Qatar Airways has marked 15 years of operations on the Nairobi-Doha route this week having begun flying on the route in 2005.

The carrier presently operates double-daily flights from Nairobi to Doha which run on the Boeing 787 dreamliner.

“We are delighted to be celebrating this milestone at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. Over the past 15 years, Nairobi has demonstrated its importance as a business and leisure market becoming one of our most popular destinations with global travellers. Famed for its safaris and energetic nightlife, Nairobi offers visitors a truly memorable and authentic experience,” said Qatar Airways Vice President for Africa Commercial operations Hendrik Du Preez.

“Residents of Kenya have also benefited from Qatar Airways’ globally connected network and partnerships with local carriers, making us the airline of choice during their travels. Qatar Airways is proud to have provided over a decade of quality international service for our valued travellers in Kenya, and we are looking forward to serving this important gateway for many years to come.”

The carrier further operates freighters which are largely deployed by the exporters of perishables such as flowers, fruits and vegetables.

Qatar Airways has continued expanding its operations on the continent and plans to grow its destinations to 19 by the end of 2020.

Globally the carrier has set its sights on 126 destinations by March next year to include 11 in the Americas, 42 in Asia Pacific, 38 in Europe and 15 in the Middle East.
