Ruto Pitches For Local Investors

Speaking during the Nandi County Investment Conference and Exhibition held in Kapsabet town, the Deputy President said locals must be the first to benefit in any development undertaking in a given area.

The DP noted that foreign investors were investing up to a tune of Ksh 20 billion in development projects in the country especially in the tea sector among other agricultural products.

He emphasized on the need to demystify the investor theories that projects were only for foreigners instead of locals.

He said that a hybrid of local and foreign investments could provide an opportunity for them to learn from each other on issues of development.

Mr. Ruto reiterated the Government’s committment to creating an enabling investor environment including reduction of power costs as well as improvement of infrastructure.

“We do not want to ensure the reduced cost of energy but also to ensure its reliability,” said the DP.

“I want to assure Kenyans that the Government is committed to cheaper power to expand investments and create more job opportunities.”
