Safaricom MPesaTu promotion: South African wins Ksh.7.8M apartment

Safaricom has revealed the winner of the Ksh.7.8million apartment in the MPesaTu promotion as Eric Lindenberg, a South African living in Kenya.

In a statement released on Friday, Safaricom said the 49-year-old is the second person to win an apartment and five other participants will be awarded in coming weeks.

““We are happy to see that the promotion winners reflect the diversity of M-PESA, which is a testament that it indeed is a mobile money service that brings the entire Kenyan society together.

“The promotion will continue for the next five weeks during which we will seek to reward even more of our customers for their loyalty,” said Jannet Atika, Safaricom’s Director of Customer Operations.

The apartments to be won are located in Nairobi’s Kahawa West estate, off Thika Road and the Eastern Bypass.

Mr. Lindenberg, a global interior design consultant, is said to have moved to the country six years ago to join his wife and two children.

He could not hide his excitement when he received the call announcing him as the second winner.

““I found the country undergoing exciting times amidst fast growth and a lot of development, which saw me make the decision to join my family here in Kenya.

“From my first days, I have come to prefer MPesa for most of my transactions ….. It was a pleasant surprise when I received the call from Safaricom on Tuesday notifying me that I had won an apartment,” Mr. Lindenberg said.

James Njagi, an artisan from Gikomba Market, was the first winner of the promotion that began four weeks ago.
