Safaricom picks new Chief Finance Officer

Leading telco operator Safaricom has named Dilip Pal as its new Chief Finance Officer (CFO) effective from November 1.

Dilip who has more than 29 years experience in Finance joins the company from DTAC, the third largest mobile phone services provider in Thailand where he served as CFO since 2017.

He replaces Sateesh Kamath who was promoted to the Vodafone Business CFO post at the end of June.

Safaricom’s Head of Investor Relations Ilanna Darcy had held the vacant post on an interim basis since July 1.

Dilip Pal has previously served in various finance roles in other firms including Vodafone (Mumbai), Hutchinson Essar and Coca-Cola Beverages.

He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Goennka College of Commerce and a Master’s in Commerce from Calcutta University.

Pal has also been appointed to the Safaricom PLC Board as an alternative director to Chief Executive Officer Peter Ndegwa.
