Stakeholders to promote arbitration for infrastructure disputes resolution

With the fast growing and expanding property and infrastructure market in in the Eastern Africa region, the number of conflicts arising from the same have also increased in form and number and hence a need to resolve them amicably.

Now in its 4th Edition, the East Africa International Arbitration Conference (EAIAC), has grown to  become an authoritative platform in promoting the region’s legal capacity, and highlighting Arbitration as an alternative investment dispute mechanism.

In the September 8th and 9th meet in Kampala, Uganda, EAIAC 2016 will highlight the importance of international arbitration as a tool for promoting foreign investment in Africa – with a closer view of East Africa – look at arbitration case studies the region focusing on infrastructure, natural resources and energy projects.

Uganda is now fairly competing against Kenya and Rwanda – which have been the market leaders – and is increasingly gaining recognition as a leading infrastructure and natural resource player in the market.

The stakeholders in the infrastructure and resources sector, who include the government ministries from the region, international Arbitration professionals and Investment experts, will be seeking to cut a clear path for the arbitration process.

EAIAC Kampala 2016 will build on the success of the previous conferences held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (2013), Nairobi, Kenya (2014) and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania (2015).

It will also position the region as a favourable investment destination.
