Sylvia Mulinge appointed Vodacom TZ boss

Sylvia Mulinge, Safaricom consumer business director, has been appointed Vodacom Tanzania Managing director.

Ms Mulinge will take up the post from June 1 replacing Ian Ferrao.

She has risen through the ranks since she joined the firm in 2006, before made the consumer business unit director in 2016 as part of the strengthening of the telecom’s top executive management team.

Safaricom chief executive officer Bob Collymore credited her with the creation of customer focused products that have helped the firm maintain market leadership.

“Throughout her 17-year career she has built a reputation as one of Kenya’s outstanding business leader, a mentor and go-getter, qualities that we at Safaricom have benefited greatly from and will deeply miss,” Mr Collymore said in a statement.

Ms Mulinge will be replaced by Charles Kare Wanjohi in an interim capacity until a substantive replacement is appointed.

Mr Wanjohi is currently the head of consumer segments marketing at Safaricom.
