Tourism players engage to craft new master plan

The Ministry of Tourism is in talks with industry players to create a blueprint to guide activities in the sector.

The National Tourism Blueprint 2030 is expected to give strategic direction for the sector by outlining critical changes needed to position Kenya as a preferred tourism destination.

The blueprint will guide public and private sectors on sustainable development and management of tourism.

Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala says the tourism master plan will set policies and programs to make tourism a catalyst for Kenya’s economy.

The ministry has already partnered with private sector chief executives to come up with a new marketing campaign premised on using company brands to drive tourism.

“We want them to contribute to this imitative and we want it to be driven by the private sector so it can be done professionally,” Mr Balala said last month.

According to stakeholders, the master plan will lead to improved brand positioning, increased earnings and equitable distribution of tourism benefits.
