YU Mobiles Planned Takeover Underway

The landscape of Kenya’s mobile phone industry is set for a major re-alignment that could see the exit of two mobile phone operators; Telkom Orange and YU mobile. This as reports indicate that the government is intent on formally ending its partnership with France Telecom, the French Telco that owns 51 percent of Telkom Kenya. But in an exclusive interview with citizen business' reporter, Denis Otieno, the information and communications Cabinet Secretary, Dr. Fred Matiang’i said the government is considering YU mobile's exit and the proposed takeover of its assets by the country's largest Telco, Safaricom.
