Avril: Why I no longer post my fiancé’s photos on social media

Popular singer Judith Nyambura Mwangi, better known by her mononym Avril, has said she stopped posting pictures of herself with her South African fiancé on social media “because people were so snoopy.”

Speaking to Daily Nation’s Buzz, Avril revealed that her man is uncomfortable with the uncalled-for attention paid to him by the public.

“He would be somewhere by himself and when people suspect it’s him, they go to my Instagram page just to confirm. And some would be so loud that he could hear them,” said Avril.

“It irritates him more since he’s not in the limelight, though I’m used to it. I want to respect his privacy.”

How does Avril ensure there’s privacy when she goes to events or on dates with her Romeo?

“We have managed to find places where we wouldn’t draw attention; we know where to hide. When I am going for an event, he comes a bit later so that people will not give him that much attention.”

Wedding plans

Avril on Monday disclosed to Radio Citizen that she would tie the knot in 2016.

“My wedding will happen next year (2016). Most of the time, a wedding ceremony is done for the parents. Once the two families meet and introductions are done, then we can be given the green light to wed,” she intimated.

Background checks being done on her man is what has locked out 2015 as a potential year for her wedding.

“If you are a parent, and your child reaches that age she should settle down, and she’s identified the person she’d love to spend the rest of her life with, you’ll have to conduct a background check on the partner she’s chosen. For my case, there are still some background checks being done,” noted the entertainer.
