DP William Ruto adopts abandoned girl, names her after his mum

Deputy President William Ruto Wednesday adopted a young girl named Nadia, whom he says was abandoned upon birth.

The DP announced assuming fatherly responsibility to the young girl after he met her while presiding over the Madre Ippolita Children’s Home Sustainability Fund launch in Masinga, Machakos County.

The excited Deputy President took to his official Facebook page to share the good news with his fans, followers and the public; detailing the baby’s background.

He wrote: “The story of Nadia who was found buried; her body partly decomposing and abandoned as a new born, and has been under the care of Sisters at Madre Ippolata Children’s Home touched my heart.“

The DP named baby Nadia after his mum, Mama Sarah Cheruiyot Cherono.

“I have named her Cherono after my mother and made her part of my family,” he said.

He proceeded to take hearty photos with baby Cherono in such a fashion which a father understands best, sending his social media pages abuzz with messages of approval.

Ruto urged Kenyans to take responsibility in ensuring the welfare of the less fortunate in the society is looked into.

The once Sirgoi and Kamagut Secondary schools teacher used the same platform to ask education players involved in resolving the teachers’ strike dispute to consider the effect the stalemate has on children; adding other interests should be secondary.

“As leaders we must learn to put the interests of the nation before our own,” Ruto urged.

“Even as we canvas for whatever interests or positions, we must consider national interests. We ask all institutions seized of the teachers issue to subordinate any interests to the national interests.”

Ruto also called for unity saying it is a vital ingredient for development. He added the government is committed to serving all citizens fairly regardless of their political inclinations.

“We are ready to work with your leaders because this is a government for all Kenyans. We must subordinate our personal interests to the greater interests of the nation,” he said.

William Ruto is a father of six children with wife, Rachel Ruto. And now with baby Nadia Cherono, the Deputy President, the newest dad in town, is a proud father of seven.
