Events Corner: Whats taking place in your town this weekend

It is just one weekend to payday, and if you have some money left to spare you should consider going to these events:

Kenya Fashion Awards

The gala event will go down at Brookhouse International School in Karen, Nairobi on Saturday.

Charges are: Ksh4000, advanced and Ksh7000 at the gate.

The occasion aims to recognise and celebrate fashion talent across Kenya, East Africa and beyond. Categories battled out for include: Media Fashion, Best Fashion Blogger and Best Designer.

Subaru Festival

For speed lovers and Subaru maniacs KICC, Nairobi will be the place to be on Saturday afternoon for Subaru Festival. Charges are Ksh500 for spectators.

There are plenty of cash prizes to be won in categories such as: best body work, best interior, best sounding engine and best rims and tyres. Performances will be by DJs Joe Mfalme and Andre.

Event sponsors are: Samsung Galaxy, Nairobi City Council, Total, and Live Love Nairobi.

South African band Mi Casa for Koroga Festival

One of the most respected bands from South Africa, Mi Casa, will on Sunday be at Nairobi Aboretum to thrill funlovers. Charges are: Ksh1500 advance and Ksh2000 at the gate.

Other performances will be by: Suzzana Owiyo, Kenya’s Webi, Djs Protégé and Andre.

The bi-monthly music and arts festival aims at treating fans with smooth music, fashion shows, cool mixes and much more.

Eric Wainaina for Evening Jazz

The Afro-pop artiste will this coming week treat funlovers to good music at Alliance Francaise in this month’s edition of Evening Jazz.

Other performances will be by Ricky Nanjero and Ricky na Marafiki band. The opening act will be by Royalty by Black.

Charges are: Ksh500.

Mombasa International Cultural Festival

The seven-day extravaganza of various activities including: dance, food bazaars, and music. Traditional garments, water and beach sports, and storytelling will take place at different places in Mombasa County.

The festival culminates this weekend.

It is geared at celebrating Mombasa’s cultural heritage, cuisine, hospitality and Coastal history.
