Forget his uptown swag, Nick Mutuma unleashes his inner Meru

Shuga actor Nicholas Munene Mutuma is well known for his ‘uptown funk’.

The suave 27-year-old performer and model has a polished English accent and trendy dress sense.

So it came as a surprise to many when the sophisticated TV man switched gears and dropped a few lines in his mother tongue: Kimeru; stepping up to Power Breakfast host Willis Raburu’s challenge.

The TV star introduced himself and invited Kenyans to attend the two-day Ameru Festival, an event that he and other celebrities had gone on TV to promote.

Though he gave a spirited attempt, Mutuma choked mid-way, causing all the other guests to break into laughter.

Unfazed by their laughter, Mutuma gave himself a 7/10.
