Gospel singer Israel Houghton dating shortly after divorce

Worship leader Israel Houghton may be a more free man after announcing his divorce.

The Friend of God singer, through a lengthy social media post, revealed that he has joined the dating group.

Israel Houghton wrote that he had started dating a woman by the name Adrienne Bailon. Apparently, the two had met over 2 years ago where they had the opportunity of working together, eventually becoming friends.

“Our circles connected and we remained good friends. From a friendship, as two single adults we have very recently begun to explore a dating relationship,” the singer wrote.

This comes just a few weeks after the gospel singer revealed that he was divorcing his wife, Melissa, after being together for 20 years.

In the lengthy post, he also reminded people that his marriage had been over for some time now.

“As I previously wrote in a statement I released a while back, my marriage had been over for some time before going public with my divorce announcement. I shared, or as some have pointed out, ‘over-shared’ my failure in my marriage,” the award-winning gospel singer wrote.

However, Israel Houghton clearly pointed out that he had not yet met Adrienne during the time his marriage was on the rocks.

“…From over five years earlier. It seems to be simple math that I had not even yet met Adrienne during the time my marriage was falling apart,” Houghton wrote.

He, however, showed his disappointment on how a group of people have taken up his dating news and dragged Adrienne into it claiming that she had something to do with his divorce.

“It deeply saddens me that an innocent party would be dragged into this situation that I have taken personal responsibility for,” he wrote.

He defended her saying: “Adrienne is a woman of integrity & character. Most of all, she is a true friend, and she should not be blamed for my past indiscretions.”

“I assure you, I am willing to own my wrongs as I have in the past. God knows and sees all things. I appreciate your prayers, and I join you in praying for the issues of life that truly matter today all over the world.”
