Has ‘player’ Chris Brown turned into a family man?
Chris Brown and his ‘baby mama’, Nia Guzman, have agreed to co-parent their one-and-a-half-year-old daughter.
After protracted discussions with his former fling, the two have agreed that co-parenting would be the best for their young child. They both claim that they want to be equally involved in everything.
Drama has surrounded the duo ever since Nia disclosed that Royalty was Chris Brown’s daughter.
The Autumn Leaves hit-maker’s girlfriend at the time, Karrueche Tran, found out through social media that Chris had a baby by another woman. Needless to say, Tran was not pleased with the bombshell revelation.
This was the final strike for the R&B singer, and his model girlfriend showed him the door. Tran held her ground even after Brown tried to win her back numerous times.
Brown’s baby mama petitioned for limited visitation rights, and this sparked a conflict between her and the multi-award winning musician.
She said that she feared for her daughter’s safety when she was alone with him. Because of her fears, Nia filed legal documents requesting for supervision when Chris was with Royalty. She also wanted full custody of her daughter, citing that she thinks Brown is irresponsible.
Not taking her accusations lying down, Chris Brown also filed documents of his own to establish paternity and fight for full custody.
Just like other celebrities, Chris Brown said that he thinks Nia is using their daughter as a meal ticket. Therefore, he refused to give her the USD10000 (Ksh1, 000,000) a month as she had asked for in child support.
According to Nia’s mother, who took to Instagram to express her thoughts on the entire child support subject, Royalty needed to live in a gated community, attend a private school and round-the-clock security.
Surprisingly, the court moved to grant Chris Brown and Nia Guzman physical and legitimate joint custody of their daughter.
The court also handed the Ayo hit-maker 12 days a month of unsupervised visitation and confirmed that he would be responsible for paying Nia $2.5K (Ksh253,000) a month and $15k (Ksh1.5 million) in support.
Chris Brown, who is infamous for battering fellow performing artist Rihanna when they were dating, faces numerous legal issues.
However, the star said that he has changed for the better after becoming a father.
“A lot has changed in my life, a lot of mistakes, a lot of lessons learned. The best thing I’m most thankful for, is my daughter. At the end of the day, love is love,” Brown gushed at the 2015 BET Awards in June.
