How old is Beyoncé? Father says she is lying about her age
First, social media was rife with rumours that Beyonce faked her pregnancy. Now, there is a speculation the pop diva has been lying about her real age.
The internet was abuzz earlier this week when Beyonce’s father, Mathew Knowles, did a radio interview with New York’s Power 105.1 FM’s “The Breakfast Club” and said Beyoncé is not 34 she claims. Instead, the he said that the diva is actually 36 years old.
Mathew, who has an estranged relationship with his singer daughter, was on the morning show discussing how he got into managing RnB power group, Destiny’s Child – which his daughter Beyoncé was a member of.
During the interview, Mr Knowles mentioned that P!nk used to compete neck-to-neck against Destiny’s Child. He further revealed that P!nk, was Beyonce’s age mate.
“P!nk, she the exact same age as Beyonce,” he said, adding: “There used to be this battle, which group was better. Usher, he was the same age. They were all 14 or 15 years old.”
Following Mr Knowles remarks, a blog – MediaTakeOut – reported he put his daughter “on blast” and acknowledged “they’ve been lying about her age all long.”
MediaTakeOut then pointed how Google search showed Beyoncé’s age as 34 years old, while her presupposed ‘age mate’ P!nk as 36.
The Drunk in Love hit-maker is yet to comment on the revelation. However, this is not the first time the singer or her husband Jay Z have been put on the spotlight for lying to the public.
In 2012, it was heavily rumoured that she was faking her baby bump, and that she had secretly subscribed for surrogacy services. She however called the rumours “stupid” in an interview with People Magazine at the time: “That was crazy. It wasn’t hurtful, it was just crazy. (I thought) ‘Where did they come up with this?’”
In 2014, Jay Z was also accused of lying about his age when DJ Troi Torain said that the rapper was actually 50-years-old.
The Run This Town rapper will celebrate his 46th birthday in December.
Torrain told E! Online at the time: “I shouldn’t blow this up, maybe because he doesn’t promote it publicly, but Jay Z and I are the same age. I will be 50 on May 3rd.”
Jay Z never responded to the allegation, but public records proved he was being truthful.
