It’s a baby boy for Citizen TV’s Janet Mbugua – Ndichu

Citizen TV’s Janet Mbugua has finally delivered a bouncing baby boy.

The celebrated news anchor gave birth to a son named Ethan Huru Ndichu early Monday morning.

Her bundle of joy came just hours after her friends threw her an elegant baby shower where they showered her with gifts.

Shortly after the delivery, Janet took to her official Instagram page to share a photo of her young family, evidently happy and smiling at the camera.

The father also broke the good news on his Instagram page saying: “The heir is born! We thank God for the safe arrival of our son.”

The TV Anchor had worked till last week before going on maternity leave.

On her last day hosting Monday Special on Citizen TV, she pranked her co-host Hussein Mohammed by pretending that she had gone into labour during the show, sending the studio into fits of laughter.

Janet and her husband, Eddie Ndichu, had discussed their pregnancy openly on Janet’s blog and in the September edition of East Africa’s True Love Magazine.

Despite the stigma surrounding pregnancies on TV, Janet did not shy away from her job on the screen.

However, many criticised the anchor for proudly showing off her baby bump.

“News anchor Janet Mbugua should now go out of our TV screen. She shouldn’t assume that we are enjoying her new shape,” read the tweet.

Janet responded, “People like you are a shame to society. I’m proud of my pregnancy, as are many other women. Your ignorance is wanting.”

She noted that the criticism was uncalled for, adding that it was important for people to know that it was okay to work while pregnant.

“It’s okay to work for as long as you have energy,” she said.

We at the Royal Media Services wish Janet and Ndichu well in their new journey as parents.
