Stop criticising me for bleaching my skin, top actress tells fans

Popular Nigerian actress turned musician Dayo Amusa has hit out at critics who bashed her for bleaching her skin.

Speaking to Nigeria’s Punch Newspaper, Dayo said she is not moved by the ‘negative energy’ by fans on social media.

“When people say that I bleach my skin, all I say to them is that it is my life. I cannot crucify people over their opinion. As far as I can wake up in the morning, do what I want to do and get the attention of people from it, I am very okay,” she said.

Since venturing into music, the delectable actress has been tongue-lashed a lot on social media.

The latest of this episode played out recently when she interpreted her own version of Adele’s popular song Hello in Yoruba.

Dayo nonetheless vows to continue being the best version of herself, and says she won’t bow to pressure.

“Anybody that knows me knows that I don’t copy what others do. I don’t compete and I do my things the way I deem fit. I know I get negative comments from people on social media but the truth is that I cannot stop them from airing their opinions. They have every right to their opinion and I don’t care about what they think about me,” she said.

Ms Amusa further revealed she would continue to produce good movies and lighten people’s homes.

“I cannot leave acting for music; I am an entertainer. I can delve into any sphere of entertainment just to keep my fans entertained and excited. Already my movie, Unforgiveable, has got me a lot of awards. After that, I did the movie, Pathetic, and very soon I would begin another movie; this is to show that I don’t plan leaving the movie industry,” she affirmed.
